About
Our project, Lewis Lindsay Dyche’s Great Panorama, seeks to:
- Bring together images of the Panorama dispersed across various physical archive collections.
- Provide online access to the historic images of the Panorama and allow its narrative to reach a wider audience beyond the confines of the University of Kansas and its archives.
- Continue the preservation of fragile glass slides and negatives.
- Present data in new, interactive, and engaging formats afforded by digital tools.
- Instill that the library is a creative place engaged in producing and creating.
The Lewis Lindsay Dyche collection is currently held by the University of Kansas Spencer Research Library. The collection includes glass negatives, lantern slides, photographic prints, and personal papers. The Spencer Research Library also holds the University of Kansas Museum of Natural History records, which includes many photographs of the Panorama used in this project.
